In recent times we have witnessed growing ambition of several governments, companies and organizations to embrace sustainability throughout their value chain. Estidama means ‘sustainability’ in Arabic and is the sustainability initiative of the emirate of Abu Dhabi. The foundation for Estidama was created in 2007 in the form of Plan Abu Dhabi 2030 which aimed to define how a contemporary, sustainable Arab Capital should look and how it could live. Since then two other significant areas have been applied in the form of Plan Al Ain 2030 and Plan Al Gharbia 2030.
Estidama establishes a clear vision for sustainability as the foundation of any new development. This commitment is a reflection of the values and ideals of an ever developing nation.
In May 2010, announcement was made of the Executive Council’s approval of the Pearl Rating System for Estidama.GE3S experience team provides a range of support services and studies to help developers, architects, planner and designers to achieve a targeted Pearl Rating under the Estidama Sustainable Buildings system (Governed by the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council).
Estidama promotes a new mindset for the construction industry with a distinctive framework for measuring sustainability performance beyond the usual planning and construction phases. a holistic framework to assure that sustainability is continually addressed through four key pillars: environmental, economic, social and cultural.

EHS-TRAKHEES, the Regulatory arm of PCFC and Special Development Zones of the Dubai World established Green Building Regulations late 2007 to implement within its jurisdiction. EHS-TRAKHEES has formulated four green building regulations:
1. Green Building Regulations – New Constructions
2. EHS Green Building Regulations – Warehouses and Industrial Developments
3. Green Building Regulation-Prescriptive Compliance Sheet (for built up areas less than equal 500 sqM)
4. Green Building Regulations-Villas and Residential Developments upto 3 habitable floors

New building construction and operation environmental rating systems, such as LEED, are being increasingly adopted by developers across the world due to the multitude of benefits of achieving LEED certification, which includes; recognition for environmental stewardship, increased marketability of the development and reduced operational costs over a developments lifecycle.

Dubai Municipality adopted the Al S’afat a Green Building Evaluation System in 2016 in order to improve the performance of buildings in Dubai by reducing the consumption of energy, water and materials, improving public health, safety and general welfare and by enhancing the planning, design, construction and operation of buildings to create an excellent city that provides the essence of success and comfort of living.
At GE3S we assist our clients – Project Management Conultants, Architechts, Contractors in complying with the requirments of Al S’afat.
